Fill your holes

It happens.  We lose something or perhaps we miss out on something. Friendships can end, projects are not always approved, cakes don't always rise.  With each loss, stop and reflect on the light you wish could fill that hole.  Perhaps a lost friend means a closer relationship with existing mates or a flopped cake means you are allowed to eat the imperfect bits.  How could this wrinkle in your soul turn into a smile in your heart? Imagine away...

  1. Vanessa,

Thank you for this post. Life is filled with disappointments and that is not a problem. The challenge---as you mention here---is, how do we process them? Do we take them personally? We shouldn't. Disappointments remind us that we aren't the center of the universe. Life will not always go the way we want. This fact can help us stay grounded with humility.

Not only that, disappointments are opportunities for character development. Learning how to deal with them teaches us to not see ourselves as victims, but rather, to see ourselves as innovators. We can begin to see what steps can we take, to meet our needs, in spite of life's setbacks.

Thanks again for bring up this subject. Hope to see you over at my place, soon. Wishing you a great rest of the week!

  2. Yay! You are back! This makes me happy :)

This post is so applicable to my life right now! Thank you!! It really is so inspiring to read your posts. You have a way, it seems, with turning negative situations or moments into positive experiences. Being happy seems to be all about how one perceive their world. I'm trying to learn this. It's a slow process that I am taking one day at a time. I definitely have my low/dark days... but I am growing stronger... body, mind and spirit... and I am hopeful that with time I will find my purpose, my passion, and learn how to start living out my dreams.

I let go of a a few relationships lately that were bringing a lot of darkness into my life. I struggle with my decision to let them go. I have been holding on to things from them that I don't think will ever be there again. I am hopeful from your words in this post that there will be something good to come out of my decision. Perhaps letting those relationships go will now allow me to be more open to letting more light into my life, to try new things, to feel a confidence again that I have been lacking because of the way those relationships made me feel.

    Thank you Vanessa!
