Hello, I am an addict

No matter how tightly we run our lives or how spiritually connected we are, everyone has addictions.  They could be drug and alcohol related or seemingly innocent such as chocolate, caffeine or being addicted to our lover.  The addiction uses up our priceless energy on wanting something more than we actually need it to survive.  Each focus on an addiction takes us away from a connection with ourselves, or a higher power.  There are messages to learn from the addiction.  Notice when you begin to crave your addiction, what were you feeling or thinking prior to this desire?  These are beautiful opportunities to learn how to be closer with our true needs, our true desires.

What addictions do you have?  How do you work on them?  Or do you want you work on them?

  1. I confess I have an addiction to coffee :-) I must have my morning coffee or I just don't feel right throughout the day haha.

    2. Sorry, but I simply had to step in - NO to Sturbucks (don't know what Sturbucks is like your way - totally rubbish in London)! Yes to Italian, brasilian, anything freshly brewed in your kitchen! Black....maybe some sugar (one and bit for me!) : )

    3. I don't drink coffee, if so, only rarely. I get headaches if I do.

I have steamed milk (at night) or tea (during the day) if I'm at a cafe with friends.

  2. Hi, my name is Hannah, and besides being a chocoholic, I am a holiday addict... I live for the holidays...I work for the holidays...I dream about holidays... my days are dark until next holiday... positive though - making holiday out of every possibly free weekend is amazing!

I will have a 'holiday' on Saturday 19th May doing bit of London gallery visiting and dining with friends after...then I'll slum back into darkness until 1st of June when I'll go and see Barcelona... and I'm already getting rather anxious what will happen to me after that as my passport will need renewing (which will take 4 - 6 weeks!)so secretly planning hiking holiday in Lake District, UK... and I just booked the flights to Prague in October! And am already in discussion with travel agency about South America trip next February!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaw, my head is spinning! I simply can't stop! And what's worse I don't want to stop either... :)

    1. Yeah, desserts are a killer for me too. Anything sweet and fresh from the oven needs to go in my tum. I eat a lot when doing school work, that's why I joke that I am having my thesis baby haha

  4. I'm Pablo, I'm an epistemophiliac. I'm addicted to learning and reading. I'd die if I was unable to read, research or write, that's how bad my addiction is.

In high-school, I hid my addiction. I didn't wear glasses or a pocket protector. :)

I actually prefer reading and studying to eating. I know, I'm sick. Heaven for me is having multiple hours for research---it doesn't get better than that.

If I met the right woman, that would be another story.

I have been alone but never lonely. I always have a book, if not several with me.

  5. I don't think I want to admit to some of these, ha, ha, but like Brian, I used to be addicted to cookies as well. However, I am learning to resist the temptation.
